The Pakistani government is taking steps to attract global investors in the proposed venture capital for startups, according to Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Dr. Umar Saif. In addition, the government plans to set up 5,000 joint e-working centers for freelancers.

To facilitate freelancers and create employment opportunities, interest-free loans will be provided to establish these joint E-Working Centers. Dr. Umar Saif also mentioned positive discussions with Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar regarding a 5-point agenda related to the IT Sector.

One of the agenda items discussed in detail was the issue of dollar retention in the IT industry. The government aims to bring good news in this regard soon. This move is expected to encourage overseas IT accounts to be transferred to Pakistan, restore investor confidence, accelerate the flow of dollars in the country, and increase IT exports.

In addition, Dr. Umar Saif emphasized the need for the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to redefine its role in assisting IT companies in acquiring international clients and business. He suggested that collaboration between PSEB and Pakistan trade and commerce missions in Pakistani embassies worldwide would help boost the exports of Pakistani IT companies.

During a meeting with PSEB, Dr. Umar Saif directed the board to expedite the training of 200,000 IT professionals, with the aim of adding $5 billion to IT exports.

The meeting also discussed matters related to the IT industry and increasing investment in the country.
