Pakistan has increased the number of border centers to facilitate the return of undocumented Afghan nationals, despite opposition from refugee groups. The facilities at the Torkham border crossing have been expanded to accommodate the growing number of returnees. The deputy commissioner for the Khyber district, Abdul Nasir Khan, stated that the process of returning has become more efficient, with no more long wait times. However, those returning to Afghanistan have expressed difficulties and uncertainties regarding their future. The caretaker government has dismissed calls to reconsider its plan to expel over a million Afghan nationals. The UN agencies, UNHCR, IOM, and Unicef, have raised concerns about the safety and well-being of these families and have called for increased support for vulnerable children and refugees in Pakistan. The agencies also emphasized the need to ensure voluntary and safe returns and to protect the rights of all children involved.
