Pakistan has accused Iran of violating its airspace by launching air attacks targeting the armed group Jaish al-Adl, resulting in the death of two children and the injury of three others. Iran has been summoned for this incident. The strike occurred in the mountainous Balochistan province, where the two countries share a border. The Iranian attacks reportedly damaged a mosque in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, about 30 miles inside the border. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has stated that such violations of sovereignty are unacceptable and can have serious consequences. The incident has strained bilateral trust and confidence. Both countries have a history of accusing each other of allowing armed groups to operate from their territories. Pakistan has emphasized the need for coordinated action against terrorism as a common threat in the region. This comes as Iran has also recently fired missiles into northern Syria and Iraq, prompting Iraq to recall its ambassador from Tehran and criticize the attacks as a violation of its sovereignty.
