Pakistan and Iran have agreed to restore diplomatic ties and send back ambassadors to their respective postings. This decision was reached during a telephonic conversation between Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian. The ministers emphasized the importance of brotherly ties and bilateral cooperation, with Pakistan’s caretaker foreign minister stressing the need for cooperation based on respect for national solidarity and sovereignty. Additionally, both sides agreed to de-escalate tensions. The conversation between the foreign ministers took place following drone and missile strikes exchanged between the two countries, which raised concerns about regional instability. In response, Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister convened a meeting of the National Security Council, which resolved to respond with full force to any attempts to breach Pakistan’s territory, urging Iran to address security concerns through existing communication channels.
