An enormous explosion at a firework factory in India resulted in at least eight deaths and 80 injuries on Tuesday. The explosion in Harda, Madhya Pradesh, led to a tower of flames and numerous ambulances and army helicopters coming to the scene for evacuation. The death toll is expected to rise and images from the factory show extensive damage. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the loss of lives and promised compensation to the families of those killed and injured. This is not the first time such a tragedy has occurred in India, as the firework industry often fails to follow safety regulations.
