Police officials and rescue workers confirmed that a bomb blast in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday resulted in the death of five individuals. The explosion occurred near a police patrol, as stated by police official Mohammad Adnan. Aizaz Mehmood, a rescue official, reported that five people lost their lives and an additional 21 individuals sustained injuries. In recent months, Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities, particularly in the KP and Balochistan regions, following the termination of the ceasefire between the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the government in November of the previous year. Incidents such as the attack on a police camp in Dera Ismail Khan in which a policeman was martyred and an IED blast in South Waziristan that claimed the lives of two soldiers on October 31 have been reported. In July, 12 soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred in separate military operations in Balochistan’s Zhob and Sui areas, marking the highest single-day death toll from terrorist attacks this year. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) compiled data indicating that there were 99 militant attacks in August, the highest number for monthly strikes in nearly nine years.
