North Korea has been conducting live-fire drills on its western coast for the past three days, according to the Yonhap news agency. The drills are taking place near the contested maritime border with South Korea. The military source reported that the drills have been happening north of the South Korean front-line island of Yeonpyeong and no artillery shells have crossed the de-facto maritime border in the Yellow Sea. South Korean residents on the border island of Yeonpyeong were warned to stay inside due to the drills and potential South Korean countermeasures. North Korea has also denied claims that it fired dozens of artillery rounds near their border on Saturday, stating that they conducted a “deceptive operation” instead.
