The Foreign Office (FO) has clarified that there has been no announcement regarding a planned “high-level visit” from Saudi Arabia. The FO spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, made this announcement during her weekly press briefing. She stated that details of any visit would be shared once a decision has been made by both sides.
Speculation had arisen regarding the postponement of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s anticipated visit to Pakistan. However, Baloch emphasized that no official announcement has been made from Pakistan’s side. Any confirmed information and agreement between both countries will be announced at the appropriate time.
This would not be the first time a visit from the Saudi crown prince to Pakistan has been postponed. Last year in November, a planned visit was also postponed, leading to no visit taking place since then.
The crown prince’s previous visit to Pakistan occurred in February 2019, during the tenure of former prime minister Imran Khan. Important agreements, such as Memorandums of Understanding for investment cooperation, were signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Additionally, the inaugural session of the Saudi-Pak Supreme Coordination Council took place, establishing a mechanism for efficient decision-making and monitoring of bilateral cooperation.
