The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have successfully intercepted an elaborate attempt to smuggle a substantial quantity of ice worth millions of rupees through the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.

A spokesperson for the NHMP announced on Wednesday that near Rashkai Service Area, the Motorway Police patrolling Sector Commander M-1, Shafiqur Rahman, signaled a suspicious vehicle to pull over.

Instead of complying, the driver chose to evade the authorities, prompting Sector Commander M1 to issue an instruction to stop the vehicle and pursue it himself.

Faced with the presence of the Motorway Police, the perpetrator abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Subsequently, a search of the abandoned vehicle uncovered 15 packs of ice.

The Motorway Police confiscated the vehicle and initiated a search for the suspect. The total weight of the ice seized was 15.6 kg.

The estimated market value of the ice is believed to be in the tens of millions of rupees.

Following completion of the initial legal procedures, both the vehicle and the seized illegal substance were handed over to the Tor District Police Station in Mardan for further investigation.

Ice, also known as crystal methamphetamine, is a highly addictive drug that stimulates the brain and nervous system.
