DG Khan regional police are on high alert after reports of a new wing of the banned terrorist organization Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) targeting Punjab police personnel. Three DG Khan check posts are particularly vulnerable to attacks by the new TTP wing. The group initially comprised 10-12 militants, but intelligence reports now suggest a strength of around 50. The militants used local hostages as human shields in a recent attack. The Pakistan Army has increased its presence in troubled areas to counter the TTP wing. The DG Khan police are ill-equipped to handle the threat, lacking an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) for safe transportation of personnel. The Regional Police Officer has confirmed the existence of the new TTP group and stated that all resources are being used to trace and eliminate the militants.
