In its order, NEPRA stated that FESCO had been negligent in earthing high-tension (HT) and low-tension (LT) poles, resulting in fatal incidents. The regulatory authority hinted at taking strict action against Faisalabad’s distribution company.
Despite FESCO’s assurances to comply with standards and adopt safety practices, NEPRA observed that the power firm’s responses were not aligned with the actual situation on the ground.
The authority found contradictions in the company’s clarifications, noting that the steel structures for grounding electricity poles had become ineffective due to deterioration and change of moisture contents at the sites over time.
It is important to note that FESCO’s negligence led to five electrocution incidents in 2020-21, six in 2021-22, and four in 2023.
