The PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s appeals against his convictions in the Avenfield Apartments and Al-Azizia references have been adjourned by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) till Wednesday (November 29). The former Prime Minister was handed years in jail and fined heavily in both corruption references. This hearing was presided over by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. Nawaz Sharif still contends that his appeals were dismissed for non-prosecution while he was abroad for medical treatment and is seeking the restoration of his pending appeals. This court gathering saw his legal team presenting detailed arguments about the proceedings in the Panama reference against the Sharif family and the unanswered questions from the JIT report. The judges inquired about the filing of references, the conduct of NAB, and the Supreme Court’s directives. The hearing was then adjourned till Wednesday.
