Multiple Arrests after PTI’s Nationwide Protests Against Obvious Election Rigging

Lahore: In response to PTI’s call against apparent election rigging, workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protested in various cities of the country and engaged in violent chants. In Lahore, police took several individuals, including leaders, into custody and transferred them to the police station.

The rally in Rawalpindi was led by senior PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi. PTI workers gathered outside Liaqat Bagh where they chanted slogans against rigging.

Lahore protest included local leaders like retired Colonel Azam Sabir, Samabia Taher, Shahriar Riaz, and others. Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s arrival in Rawalpindi led to an agitation rally entering Islamabad through Raja Bazaar, Pirwadhai. Workers held party flags in their hands and continued their chanting while facing heavy police deployment.

Additionally, in Lahore, PTI workers held a rally where several were arrested and taken to the police station. In Karachi, PTI workers protested outside the press club.

In Lahore, law enforcement agencies resorted to baton charging to disperse PTI’s active supporters and took several leaders and workers, including Mian Shehzad Farooq, Hafiz Zeshan, and former Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar, Aftab Bajwa, into custody.

PTI workers expressed doubts about the electoral integrity and chanted slogans in support of the party’s founder and chairman, Imran Khan. Protesters demanded the release of Imran Khan and other party members. In various parts of the city, PTI supporters took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the apparent electoral irregularities.

Furthermore, PTI’s provincial assembly member Ali Amteaz led a protest rally in Cooler Ground, Shahdara, and outside the Lahore Commissioner’s Office. Along with this, PTI spokesperson criticized law enforcement agencies and the government for obstructing peaceful protests and accused them of resorting to non-constitutional and unlawful violence.
