The suspect involved in a mass shooting in Maine, which resulted in the deaths of 18 individuals, has been found dead, according to the state’s governor. The two-day manhunt, which involved numerous law enforcement agents, has come to an end with the discovery of Robert Card’s body. Card, a 40-year-old Army reservist, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shooting took place at a bowling alley and a bar-restaurant in Lewiston, causing fear and concern among residents. Governor Janet Mills expressed relief at the news, while President Joe Biden vowed to address the ongoing issue of gun violence in the country. The victims of the shooting have been identified, and it has been declared the deadliest mass shooting in the US this year. Card’s body was found in Lisbon Falls, near the Androscoggin River, close to where he was previously employed. The search for Card had prompted lockdowns and closures in the area, causing anxiety among the local community.
