The Prime Minister addressed a Tech Destination Pakistan event, discussing the government’s full support for the IT sector and its potential to uplift the economy. He emphasized the vision of “Digital Pakistan” and the government’s commitment to digital transformation initiatives for economic prosperity and citizen empowerment.

He highlighted the growth of Pakistan’s ICT industry and its contributions to the economy, including job creation, revenue generation, and attracting FDI. He also emphasized Pakistan’s reputation as an offshore outsourcing destination and a popular country for freelancing.

The Prime Minister announced the inclusion of the IT sector under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the government’s efforts to promote the ICT industry. He outlined the benefits of developing the IT sector, including increased employment opportunities, service sector exports, and foreign reserves.

He discussed Pakistan’s potential to become a knowledge-based economy, mentioning the expansion of Software Technology Parks and various government initiatives and milestones in the IT sector.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif also spoke at the event, highlighting the government’s progress in achieving its goals for the IT sector. He discussed initiatives such as the E-Rozgar centers and plans to scale up the program by opening 10,000 centers across the country.

In addition, Minister Saif mentioned plans to enable freelancers to receive funds from PayPal and emphasized the need for promoting specialized and globally competitive skills for the youth to be employable in the IT industry.
