Sardar Latif Khosa, a disgruntled leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), officially announced his decision to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday. He stated that he took this step on the wish of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan. At a press conference in Lahore, Khosa emphasized that his move was driven by the interest of the country and democracy, and he expressed his commitment to raising his voice for the truth. He underscored the importance of adhering to the constitution, describing it as a civil agreement with the characteristics of welfare states. Khosa also addressed the role of the armed forces, contending that their duty extends beyond protecting borders to assisting the state in emergencies and providing security during elections. Notably, Khosa had received an invitation to join the PTI on December 4, after the PPP suspended his party membership for defending Imran Khan without approval and criticizing state policy. Additionally, the Election Commission of Pakistan issued the election schedule for the upcoming February 8 general polls, with nominations beginning on December 20-22, and polling set for February 8.
