Karachi: The failure of Karachi police in controlling crime and supervising criminal activities has led to the suspension of multiple officers and personnel.
Karachi Police Chief Khadim Hussain Rind has suspended Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) Sohrab Goth, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sohrab Goth, and SSP Site Super Highway for their failure in controlling crime and maintaining order within their respective areas. In addition to this, disciplinary inquiries have been initiated against 15 ADIGs in the Karachi region.
The suspended ADIG Sohrab Goth Arshad Janjua has been directed to report to Karachi police headquarters, while the suspended SSP Sohrab Goth Ashraf Joggi and the suspended SSP Site Super Highway Ijaz Masan have been reassigned to the Police Headquarters Garden Security Company.
The heads of 8 units and 21 personnel in the Eastern Zone, 7 unit heads and 8 personnel in the Western Zone, and 1 unit head and 11 personnel in the Southern Zone have been suspended after allegations of criminal supervision were proven.
A total of 82 police officers and personnel have faced disciplinary action, including the suspension of 6 personnel from the Karachi Range, as well as from the Traffic and Security Zones.
The Additional IG Karachi has emphasized in a message to the Karachi police that officers and personnel involved in sheltering criminals will face strict disciplinary action for the misuse of authority and no leniency will be shown in their duty performance.
