In Karachi, a pedestrian was killed in a confrontation between police and robbers near the Ayub Goth area of Sohrab Goth.
According to SHO Sohrab Goth Shahzad Ilyas, two suspects on a motorcycle were fleeing after a robbery in Ayub Goth when they were spotted by police officers on patrol.
When the police tried to apprehend the suspects, the robbers opened fire, resulting in a bullet hitting the pedestrian in the chest. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
During the incident, the public joined forces with the police in chasing the suspects. After a chase, the police managed to corner the suspects again, and one of them, Naseem Abdul Ghaffar, was injured and arrested along with 2 pistols and a motorcycle, while the other suspect managed to escape on foot.
The body of the deceased, Abbas Shahid, was taken to hospital where doctors conducted a post-mortem examination, and after legal formalities, the body was handed over to the heirs.
The brother of the deceased, speaking to the media at the hospital, revealed that the victim worked in a factory and was a resident of Ayub Goth. He left behind three daughters, a son, and a widow. At the time of the incident, the victim was returning home from the factory.
The heirs have appealed for the apprehension of the culprits involved in the incident. The police have stated that with the help of the arrested injured suspect, the other suspect will also be apprehended soon.
It is worth mentioning that in the past year, there have been 48 incidents of robberies in which citizens, including a minor girl, police officers, and others, were targeted. All the police protocols for apprehending the culprits in the streets have proven to be unsuccessful.
