A shocking incident occurred in Karachi when a lion was found roaming freely on Sharea Faisal. The owner of the lion, Shamsul Haq, appeared before the session court and admitted to his wrongdoing.
The session court, in response, imposed a heavy fine of Rs 312,000 on the owner for violating public safety and wildlife regulations. Additionally, the court ordered the immediate seizure of the lion.
It is important to note that the lion had already been transferred to Karachi Zoo by the Sindh Wildlife team after it was captured roaming freely in a residential area.
The Sindh Wildlife Department has taken action in this case and has detained five individuals, in accordance with the complaint filed by the department, due to the lion being spotted on Karachi’s Shahra-e-Faisal.
Earlier this year, a similar incident occurred in Islamabad, where a person was reportedly injured in a leopard attack in a private housing society. The leopard sought refuge in an under-construction house, posing a challenge for the authorities to capture the predator.
The security officials and housing society administration are currently working to remove the leopard from the area to ensure the safety of the residents. As a precautionary measure, public places and parks within the society have been temporarily closed. The Assistant Commissioner (AC) has advised residents to stay inside their houses and take necessary precautions.
