The Aconcagua in the Andes stands as a challenge for mountaineers worldwide. The highest mountain outside the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges, this 6.9 kilometre high peak requires months of planning, training and a significant amount of gear. The writer’s journey and experiences with the mountain and its treacherous conditions are documented in great detail. They had to deal with dangerous snowfall and extreme cold that left them unable to summit. Although this attempt ended in failure, they have not given up on their dream and hope to return and try again one day.
