An Israeli airstrike on an ambulance in northern Gaza has resulted in the deaths of 15 people and injuries to 60 others. The ambulance, belonging to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, was attacked just outside a hospital in Gaza City. Social media videos show the aftermath of the strike, with people lying injured next to the ambulance and blood pooled nearby. The Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed shock at the attack on ambulances and emphasized the need to protect patients, health workers, and medical facilities. The head of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, was horrified by the strike and called for an end to the conflict. Israel has accused Hamas of using Al-Shifa hospital as a hiding place for command centers and tunnels. Despite ordering civilians to leave northern Gaza, Israel’s military continues to bombard the southern part of the strip as well.
