A statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that three terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border were killed in the Batwar area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district. The ISPR reported that the movement of the three militants was detected by security forces, and after a fire exchange, all three terrorists were killed. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the killed terrorists. Additionally, the ISPR reported that militants from inside Afghanistan opened fire on a Pakistani border post in the Spinwam area of KP’s North Waziristan district, resulting in the tragic death of 31-year-old Naik Abdul Rauf. The ISPR called on the Interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management and prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
In a separate incident, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general Mashkai area of Balochistan’s Awaran district resulted in the death of five terrorists. Security forces conducted the IBO and discovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives at the terrorists’ hideout. The ISPR also noted an increase in terror activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and a rise in the number of suicide attacks targeting security forces. This increase has resulted in a higher number of deaths and injuries compared to previous years.
