The military’s media wing reported that an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was carried out in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area, resulting in the killing of Commander Tabassum alias Qadarman and his associate Sajid alias Sarkandi during a gunfight with security forces. Another IBO in Dera Ismail Khan’s Kulachi area led to the death of two more terrorists, with weapons, ammunition, and explosives recovered from the scene. The ISPR stated that the terrorists were actively involved in various terrorist activities, including extortion and target killings, and that sanitization operations were ongoing in the area. Local residents expressed their support for the operations to eliminate terrorism, which has seen a surge in terrorist activities across the country since the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. A separate intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan had also resulted in the killing of Abdullah Khadri and Khalid alias “Janan”.
