The military’s media wing reported that two terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the operation was conducted based on the reported presence of terrorists in the area. The ISPR also confirmed that two soldiers were martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists in KP’s Lakki Marwat district. Pakistan has seen an increase in terror activities, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. According to a security report, Pakistan witnessed 1,524 violence-related fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 terror attacks and counter-terror operations in 2023, with KP and Balochistan being the primary centres of violence.
