The Bombardier Challenger 600 series jet crash-landed on a highway in Florida, killing two people. As the pilot calmly informed an airport controller that the aircraft had lost both engines and was not going to make the runway, the jet collided with a car on Interstate 75 before hitting a wall and bursting into flames. The crash is under investigation by federal authorities, and a preliminary report on the cause of the crash is expected in 30 days. Three of the five people on board were taken from the wreckage alive. The plane was operated by Hop-a-Jet Worldwide Charter based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was scheduled to fly back there on Friday afternoon.
