ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Interior, Rana Sanaullah, has inaugurated a project for the rehabilitation of Murree Road from Kashmir Chowk to Faizabad interchange in Islamabad. The project aims to improve the road conditions and enhance the flow of traffic in the city.

The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Noor ul Ameen Mengal, provided a briefing to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah about the project. He stated that the total cost of the project is Rs750 million, which includes the construction of a 6-kilometre road between Kashmir Chowk and Faizabad interchange.

Mengal assured the minister that the project will be completed within a minimum time period of 6 months. This will ensure that there is minimal disruption to the traffic flow in the city during the construction process.

The inauguration of the rehabilitation project comes after the Interior Minister recently inaugurated the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS) at the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The IBMS is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the FIA in maintaining national security and integrity.

During the inauguration, Minister Rana Sanaullah praised the initiative to implement projects that improve the efficiency of the FIA. He emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to strengthen national security and protection.

The newly established IBMS will be deployed at immigration check posts and airports, enabling the verification of passports and Pakistani visas. The system utilizes optical character recognition to instantly identify documents and individuals, improving the accuracy and speed of document verification.

The system has also been integrated with other government agencies, including the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the Directorate of Passport and Immigration, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Police. This integration allows for real-time data verification and ensures a comprehensive approach in addressing malfeasance and misuse of powers.

In addition to the IBMS, the Interior Minister also inaugurated the E-Office in FIA, which aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and save national resources. The FIA director general assured that the E-Office will be fully operational within the next six months.

These initiatives by the Interior Minister demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and utilizing technology to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens.
