The returning officer (RO) announced the rejection of the nomination papers of the former prime minister, stating that the PTI founder has been convicted.
PML-N’s Mian Naseer objected to Imran Khan’s nomination papers, citing that the proposer and seconder are not from NA-122, a legal requirement for the constituency.
He also highlighted that Imran Khan, a candidate from NA-122, is a convicted individual and therefore ineligible to participate in the upcoming polls.
The scrutiny of nomination papers for the 2024 general elections will continue until December 30th, with appeals against acceptance or rejection accepted until January 3 and decisions on these appeals made by January 10.
The list of candidates will be released on January 11, with the option to withdraw candidacy open until January 12. Electoral symbols will be allotted on January 13, and the polling for the general elections is scheduled for February 8.
