The Islamabad High Court has reserved its decision on the appeal against the chairman of the PTI’s jail trial and the judicial order. The High Court heard the appeal on the jail trial and judicial appointments in the case of Saifur Rehman. PTI Chairman’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja argued that the judge should pass a clear order based on reasons for a jail trial and then the federal government’s approval comes on the chief commissioner’s request, and informing the High Court becomes necessary. Salman Akram Raja said that as yet there had been no judicial order related to the jail trial, so it should be considered illegal if the process is carried out following the method of seeking the cabinet’s approval from November 12, the notification of November 13 will not apply to the activity based on the past actions. Salman Akram Raja said the prosecution typically comes forward with the first request in a case like the Saifur case, and the judge usually applies his mind to the prosecution’s request, if a formal decision is made on the prosecution’s request, the accused will also have the right to it. The Registrar of the High Court said that the process for the judicial appointments began with the Islamabad High Court, and the trial court judge had already informed the High Court before the jail trial. Salman Akram Raja said that all proceedings related to the jail trial in the Saifur case are still illegal, if there is a need for a jail trial in the future, bring a judicial order and seek approval from the cabinet. Attorney General Mansoor Usman affirmed that it is agreed that the jail trial should not be in a closed room and anyone who wants to attend the hearing should be allowed to do so. The High Court has reserved its decision on the appeal against the chairman of the PTI in the Saifur case, and a brief decision will be made this evening.
