An accountability court in Islamabad has made the decision to cancel the interim bail of Imran Khan, the former prime minister and PTI chairman, in the National Crime Agency (NCA) £190 million scandal. The case was heard by Judge Muhammad Bashir at Accountability Court No.1 in Islamabad. Representing Imran Khan, his lawyer Khawaja Haris and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) deputy prosecutor general Sardar Muzaffar appeared before the court. Following arguments from both sides, the court cancelled the interim bail of the PTI chairman due to non-pursuance.

NCA £190m Scandal

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated an investigation against Imran Khan, along with Bushra Bibi and others, regarding the alleged acquisition of hundreds of canals of land in the name of Al Qadir University Trust. This acquisition reportedly led to a loss of 190 million pounds for the national exchequer. The charges state that the former prime minister and other accused individuals allegedly utilized Rs50 billion (190 million pounds at that time) that was sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the government. Imran Khan registered the Trust for the Al-Qadir University Project on December 26, 2019.
