The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled a hearing for September 25 regarding the post-arrest bail plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief. The court issued notices to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other respondents in the cipher case.

This development comes after the special court, established under the Official Secrets Act, rejected the PTI chief’s post-arrest bail petition concerning the missing cipher.

The PTI chairman’s legal team has been urging for an early hearing of the case. In response, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq emphasized that there is a proper procedure in place, and the case will be decided accordingly.

PTI chief’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, filed the plea on Saturday. The IHC will hear the case on September 25.

In another related matter, the PTI chairman was sent to jail on August 5 following his conviction in the Toshakhana case. However, on August 29, the IHC suspended his sentence. Despite this, a special court directed Attock jail authorities to keep him in “judicial lockup” in connection with the cipher case.
