The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Justice Aamer Farooq, has reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments from lawyers representing the petitioner and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
During the hearing, petitioner Sheikh Sajidur Rehman’s counsel, Kashif Malik Advocate, argued that no changes could be made to an administrative unit under section 10. He requested the court to order the ECP to include the Sagri area again in NA-53, which had previously been excluded from the constituency and made part of Gujjer Khan.
However, the ECP’s lawyer disagreed with the petitioner, stating that the delimitations of the constituencies had been done in accordance with the Supreme Court (SC) verdict, and no changes could be made to them at this time.
The court reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments.
Earlier, the IHC had reserved its verdict on the petition filed against the delimitations of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s National Assembly (NA) and Punjab Assembly constituencies NA-53 and PP-10.
