The 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held in Ivory Coast, with matches taking place at six stadiums across five cities including Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouake, Korhogo and San Pedro. The tournament will feature 24 teams, including five teams from the previous tournament in Qatar. The host nation, Ivory Coast, will face Guinea-Bissau in the opening match at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on January 13.
The top two teams in each group and the four best-ranked third-placed teams will advance to the last 16, with the remaining teams being eliminated from the tournament. The knockout stage will begin after three rest days from January 24, with the winners of the tournament receiving a prize money of 5.5 million pounds ($7m) and the runners-up getting 3.165 million pounds ($4m).
