Residents of the Maghazi refugee camp in Gaza returned to their neighborhood to find their homes reduced to rubble. Abu Rami Abu al-Ais expressed the devastation of seeing his house bombed and stated that there is no safe place in the Gaza Strip. Officials confirmed that seven families were affected by the destruction.

Israel claims to issue evacuation orders and warnings before military attacks, but Zeyad Awad stated that there was no advisory before the strike on their neighborhood. He emphasized that civilians just want safety and security, yet they are attacked without warning. The Israeli military stated that they are “reviewing the incident”.

The Maghazi refugee camp, established in 1949, is one of several in Gaza that shelters refugees who were displaced during the creation of Israel. Many who fled after the strikes were already displaced from attacks in northern Gaza, further exacerbating their displacement and suffering.
