Islamabad: The Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has achieved a significant success in the fake degree case of former COO Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, arresting the main culprit involved in making fake degrees.

Under the supervision of Deputy Director FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad Afzal Khan Niazi, the FIA team raided the area and arrested the main culprit, Muhammad Ameen Baig, involved in making fake degrees.

The culprit used to issue fake degrees in the name of the Open International University Sri Lanka and was running a fake and illegal institution through multiple agents.

Previously, former COO Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, who was already under arrest, had also obtained the aforementioned fake degree from the main culprit and had been appointed as COO based on the basis of the fake degree.

The arrest of the culprit was carried out on the basis of the identification of previously arrested culprits, who revealed that the culprit was also running a fake International Council for Diplomas and Certificates (ICDC) for the execution of diplomas and certificates. The culprit used to receive $1,000 for the MD degree and $1,500 for the PhD degree.

During the raid, a large number of printed degree certificates, embossed seals, fake university-related seals, and entry forms were recovered.

The FIA has also contacted Sri Lankan authorities through Interpol for the investigation of the case and further investigation is ongoing, with more revelations expected during the investigation.
