According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Spicejet flight SG-15 was en route from Ahmedabad to Dubai when a 27-year-old passenger experienced a sudden drop in sugar levels, prompting a medical emergency.

The captain of the aircraft contacted the Pakistani Air Traffic Controller and, upon receiving permission, made an emergency landing at Karachi Airport at 09:30pm.

Border Health Services (BHS) and CAA doctors were quickly on site after the plane landed, providing immediate medical assistance to the passenger. The CAA stated that the Indian plane will resume its journey to Dubai after refueling.

In a similar incident in November 2023, an Indian plane made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport Karachi after a passenger’s health deteriorated mid-flight.

The flight was en route to Hyderabad Deccan from Jeddah when the passenger experienced a heart attack. After receiving clearance, the flight made an emergency landing at Karachi airport. The medical team confirmed that the passenger, identified as Zohra, had already passed away during the checkup, according to a CAA spokesperson.
