Karachi: India has decided to include Virat Kohli in the squad for the T20 World Cup.

According to a report in the Indian newspaper Jagran, 35-year-old star batsman Virat Kohli will be included in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in June. Earlier, there were concerns about his form and strike rate in the short format.

Virat Kohli is currently playing as an opener for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing Indian Premier League and has scored the most runs in the tournament with 361 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 147.

Virat Kohli has mostly played at number 3 in his career, but he has an excellent record as an opener in international cricket, where he has scored 400 runs at an average of 57 in nine matches.

Virat Kohli scored 122 runs against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2021, which is the highest individual score by any Indian batsman in this format.

For the mega event, there is a possibility of Shreyas Iyer replacing Kohli at the number 3 position in the Indian team, while Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill could also be part of the Indian squad.

It should be noted that for the T20 World Cup 2024, India is in Group A with Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and America.
