Daniyal Aziz, an estranged leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), announced that he plans to send a legal notice to senior leader Ahsan Iqbal for making what he deems as ‘baseless’ allegations.
During a press conference, Aziz denied owning or working in the transport business, and refuted Iqbal’s claim that he had asked for a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket.
Furthermore, Aziz stated that he does not own a transport business and challenged Iqbal to provide evidence for his accusations. He also mentioned his involvement in organizing a public gathering for Maryam Nawaz in his constituency when Nawaz Sharif was imprisoned.
Aziz also mentioned that he turned down offers to join other parties and that none of the PML-N ticket holders from his constituency participated in the public gathering. He also accused Iqbal of pressuring the leadership to issue a notice against him.
Previously, Aziz decided to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections after PML-N announced its list of election candidates. He gained attention after receiving a show-cause notice from the party for violating party rules by posting controversial tweets on Twitter, and making a statement on a TV channel blaming Ahsan Iqbal for price hikes.
