Citizens in Karachi took matters into their own hands after law enforcement agencies failed to control street crime. In Azizabad Block-II, enraged citizens caught two alleged robbers, subjected them to torture, and handed them over to the police. The suspects had reportedly mugged a citizen in the area the day before. The citizens also filmed the incident, capturing police officers thrashing the suspects.
In a similar incident in Orangi Town, enraged residents beat three suspected robbers to death in retaliation for the killing of a shopkeeper. After the robbers shot and killed Sheroz Aslam during a robbery at his shop, the residents managed to apprehend the suspects and subjected them to severe torture, resulting in their deaths. Police later shifted the bodies for medico-legal formalities.
