Hollywood fans were surprised to learn that the budget for India’s historic space mission, Chandrayaan-3, was lower than that of the Oscar-winning film ‘Interstellar’.

On Wednesday, India successfully landed its Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the moon’s south pole, making it the fourth nation in history to achieve this milestone.

In addition to the successful landing, India also became the first country to reach the moon’s south pole.

Chandrayaan-3 is specifically designed for exploration of the lunar south pole, an area believed to contain water ice. This water can potentially serve as a valuable resource for future moon missions and for establishing a permanent moon colony.

A Twitter page called Newsthink highlighted that the budget for the film ‘Interstellar’, directed by renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan, was $165 million, while the Indian government spent only $75 million on the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

‘Interstellar’ follows the story of a farmer and ex-NASA pilot named Joseph Cooper, who leads a team of researchers searching for a new habitable planet as Earth’s future becomes uncertain. The film features an impressive cast including Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Mackenzie Foy, Ellen Burstyn, Timothée Chalamet, Michael Caine, and many others.
