Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has written a letter to the British High Commissioner in Islamabad, stating that the Supreme Court has rectified errors and Britain should also rectify their mistakes.

On the directive of Chief Justice Pakistan Justice Faiz Isa, the Registrar of the Supreme Court has written a letter to the British High Commission, stating that the British High Commissioner discussed the importance of democracy and open societies in a conference with Asma Jahangir.

The letter states that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has rectified errors, and it is necessary for Britain to also rectify their mistakes. The Registrar of the Supreme Court’s letter mentions the changing of the Iranian government’s throne in 1953 and the establishment of the state of Israel through the Balfour Declaration.

The Registrar of the Supreme Court sent a letter to the British High Commissioner, stating that in Asma Jahangir’s conference, your enthusiastic speech highlighted the importance of democracy, elections, and open societies.

They said that the interest shown by the British government is welcomed, and holding elections in Pakistan within 90 days of the completion of the national and provincial assemblies’ term was necessary. The elections could not be held on time because the President and the Election Commission were not in agreement on who has the authority to announce the election date.

They stated that the Supreme Court resolved the issue within just 12 days and general elections were held in all of Pakistan on February 8, 2024.

The Registrar of the Supreme Court said let us move away from the poisonous idea of racial superiority, let us all stand united and be counted for equality, peace, and humanity.

They said let us become honest and acknowledge past mistakes with openness, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has acknowledged and rectified the mistakes from their past, detailed steps have been taken to ensure they are not repeated.

The letter mentioned that since the government of King Charles III has emphasized the need for open societies and democracy, they express their desire and good wishes for openness and democracy for the people of your country.
