Baluchistan: Pakistan’s Ugly Tragedy | Protests in Islamabad, Who is playing politics & Why?

Published on

Baluchistan is Pakistan’s bleeding wound since 1948! Repeated attempts to fix political challenges through use of force has only multiplied Pakistani state’s challenges creating a very deep sense of alienation in Baluch youth. Serious and sustained political dialogue is needed to understand and resolve the political tragedy created by decades of unwise and brutal state actions! However what’s happening now is very confusing.
Series of events since the abduction, court appearance and extra-judicial killing of Balaach Moula Baksh between 28 Oct and 23rd November raise some very difficult and perplexing questions to which we don’t have any answers. But a bit of reflection reveals that sequence of events is not organic, and some powerful internal and external players are trying to take political advantage of this situation. First a tragedy has been created, then a movement has been allowed, and now a narrative is being shaped that displaces Pakistan’s national narrative and focus towards elections at a time when all eyes were fixed on actions of Election Commission of Pakistan that is accepting, rejecting and scrutinising nomination papers for Feb 2024 Elections.
