Former planning minister Asad Umar has announced his resignation from the PTI’s basic membership as well as his decision to quit politics altogether. In a post on a social media platform, he stated that after over a decade in public life, he has decided to completely withdraw from politics. Umar, who was once a close aide of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, also mentioned his disagreement with the party’s policy of confrontation with state institutions. He expressed his gratitude towards those who supported him during his public life, particularly the NA-54 team and the voters who elected him twice. PTI leader Taimur Khan Jhagra described Umar’s departure from politics as a loss and thanked him for his assistance during difficult times. Jhagra emphasized the need for more space in politics for professionals who have something to offer and stressed the importance of healing and building bridges in the country.
