Pakistani athlete and Olympian Arshad Nadeem showcased his exceptional talent at the final of the Javelin throw in the Commonwealth Games 2022, despite being injured. With his remarkable performance, he secured a historic silver medal for Pakistan.

Arshad, who had qualified directly for the finals of the Javelin throw, set a new record, bringing glory to Pakistan by winning the silver medal.

Despite coping with elbow and knee injuries, Arshad surprised his competitors with an outstanding throw of 90.18 meters, setting a national and Commonwealth Games record.

In his first attempt in the final, Arshad achieved a career-best throw of 86.81 meters, which was also a new national record for Pakistan. However, he outdid himself on his fifth attempt.

In his third attempt, Arshad surpassed his previous record by throwing at a distance of 88 meters. Unfortunately, he couldn’t maintain the same momentum in his fourth attempt and achieved a distance of 85.70 meters.

Following this setback, Arshad’s rival, Anderson Peters, managed to surpass him and took the top position in the standings with a throw of 88.64 meters.

However, Arshad didn’t let this discourage him. With an astounding throw of 90.18 meters, he reclaimed the top spot and broke his own record once again, earning the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games.

It is noteworthy that Arshad Nadeem is Pakistan’s first medalist in athletics at the Commonwealth Games since 1962.
