Islamabad: The federal government has taken notice of the dissemination of sensitive and confidential information on social media.
According to a statement issued by the Press Information Department, the federal government has issued a strict notice regarding the unauthorized dissemination of sensitive and confidential information, especially secret documents, on social media platforms. The disclosure of such information can not only harm Pakistan’s strategic and economic interests, but also severely damage relations with friendly and brotherly countries.
The federal government has decided to file cases under the Official Secrets Act 1923 against all individuals directly or indirectly involved in disclosing or spreading sensitive information or documents. The punishment for this offense will be 2 years of imprisonment and a fine if convicted.
