According to the police, a cracker shop on Quetta’s Moti Ram Road experienced an explosion, resulting in two injuries.

The Quetta Metropolitan Corporation quickly dispatched a fire brigade to extinguish the fire caused by the explosion. The cracker shop suffered extensive damage, whereas two adjacent shops were partially affected.

Television footage showed smoke engulfing the area, and a crowd gathered at the scene. In response, a bomb disposal squad was deployed to inspect the shop.

The Station House Officer (SHO) stated that evidence was being collected to determine the exact cause of the explosion. After the bomb disposal squad’s inspection, the Quetta Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), Captain Zohaib Mohsin, confirmed that the explosion was caused by ignited crackers.

He explained that the shop owner had ordered a large quantity of fireworks and crackers for the upcoming August 14 celebrations. Unfortunately, due to the heat, they exploded on the rooftop.

Captain Zohaib Mohsin assured the public that no terror-related activities were involved in the incident.

Initially, when the cause of the explosion was unknown, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo condemned the incident and referred to it as a “bomb blast.” He requested a report from the additional chief secretary and police chief regarding security measures in Balochistan.
