Islamabad: A delegation of various allied parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party, reached the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in the Parliament to seek his support, but they were not successful.

The delegation of allied parties’ negotiating committee, headed by Yousaf Raza Gillani, reached Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence, where they were welcomed by him.

The committee members included Ahsan Iqbal, Ayaz Sadiq, Saad Rafique, Rana Tanveer, Khurshid Shah, Naveed Qamar, Sadiq Sanjrani, Khalid Maqbool, Senator Abdul Qadir, PPP President Abdul Aleem Khan, and PML-Q leader Salik Hussain.

After the meeting with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a meeting was held with Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri of JUI-F, Maulana Attaur Rehman, Maulana Asad Mahmood, Mufti Masooduddin, Aslam Ghauri, Hafiz Hamdullah, Usman Badini, and Noor Alam Khan. Consultations were held on the country’s political situation.

Subsequently, the leaders of the government’s negotiating committee spoke to the media. PML-N leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that the PML-N, PPP, BAP, and PML-Q had all come to seek Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s vote.

He said that we are democratic people and we have respect for Maulana Fazlur Rehman, so we have requested him to vote for us in the Parliament for various constitutional positions, including the Prime Minister.

Ayaz Sadiq also mentioned that during the discussion, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his reservations, which were discussed, but he did not clearly express his willingness to vote.

He stated that now our leaders will meet Maulana Fazlur Rehman in the Parliament.
