Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, alleging that the focus has shifted away from the original goal of using artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. According to reports from news agency Reuters, Musk filed the lawsuit in San Francisco on Thursday, which could put the company and its co-founder in a difficult position.

Musk accuses Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman of violating the agreement by focusing more on profit-making instead of providing public services. He has requested the court to order OpenAI to make its research and technology accessible to the public and prevent the company from using its latest AI model, GP-4, and other assets to benefit Microsoft or any individual.

It is worth noting that Elon Musk, who purchased Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022, has previously called for regulations and guidelines for artificial intelligence. In 2018, he resigned from the board of OpenAI and faced public criticism for his relationship with Microsoft.

Legal experts suggest that OpenAI may face difficulties in gaining Musk’s trust under the agreement, but it could be challenging to obtain a favorable outcome in the lawsuit.
