The announcement of the national team for the 5-match T20 series against New Zealand has been delayed. According to media reports, selectors will meet on Sunday to consult on potential players, and the announcement of the squad against the Kiwis may happen on April 8 or later.

The announcement of the national team’s squad was supposed to be made earlier this week, but now it has been delayed. Selectors have returned to Lahore after discussing the possibilities for the series with captain Babar Azam in Karachi, where the national squad was participating in a fitness camp under the supervision of the Pakistan Army.

For the series of five matches, the potential players being considered include captain Babar Azam, Saif Badar, Muhammad Rizwan, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Shadab Khan, Usama Mir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Zaman Khan, Usman Khan, Wahab Riaz, Irfan Niazi, and Abbas Afridi, while Fakhar Zaman’s injury is being assessed.

Recently injured fast bowler Haris Rauf, who sustained a shoulder injury during Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, is not fully fit and will continue the recovery process.

On the other hand, it is reported that fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi may be rested for the series against New Zealand under workload management.
