Islamabad: President Arif Alvi has said that if electronic voting machines were in place today, my beloved Pakistan would be saved from this crisis.

In his tweet, he said that remember our long struggle for electronic voting machines, there were paper ballots in EVMs that could be counted by hand (as is being done today), there was also a simple electronic calculator/counter in the electronic voting machine that could count the votes along with the button pressed.

The president said that the result of every candidate would be available within five minutes of the polling ending and would also be printed, all our efforts, for which more than 50 meetings were held in the presidency, were unsuccessful.

He further said that if EVMs were in place today, my dear Pakistan would have been saved from this crisis.
