Lahore: PTI leader Barrister Gohar has said that the court’s decision to review the return of the electoral symbol “bat” will be challenged in the Supreme Court.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, he said that the Supreme Court has stated that taking back the electoral symbol from the party is equivalent to ending the party, and a request has been made to the Supreme Court to come tomorrow.
He further said that if the Supreme Court does not restore the electoral symbol “bat”, then an independent candidate will be given the symbol, which will result in a loss for democracy and the lower house (parliament), and if the elections are not transparent, it will also harm the economy.
In response to a question, he questioned any IMF meeting and said that there was a consultation on the issue of tickets in a meeting with PTI’s former chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
Barrister Gohar said that the Peshawar High Court has withdrawn the order to restore the electoral symbol “bat”, it is a misconception that the Election Commission was not heard, there was a 4-hour hearing that day, taking the electoral symbol “bat” from PTI will raise questions about the legality of the elections.
He said that by conducting independent elections in 859 electoral seats, they will establish the foundation of corruption, if a party with 80% credibility is left out, there will be a loss, all these cases are based on political revenge.
PTI leader said that under no circumstances will there be an election boycott, it is strongly believed that the Supreme Court will not allow the electoral symbol issue to go this way, if the “bat” symbol is not received, they will still fight the elections, but it will be a hard trading.
